Black or orange filament: choosing color and finish
Color changes how surface details read and how a part sits in its environment. It does not turn PLA into PETG or meet mechanical requirements by itself. A bright shade may make edges easier to inspect in a fit prototype; glittered black can reveal or hide texture depending on the light.
Compare within one material first
Prusament PLA Galaxy Black and Prusament PLA Prusa Orange let you compare color without switching material. PETG Galaxy Black adds another variable: then you are not comparing shades alone.

Keep the result consistent
Record brand, exact color name, weight and lot when a part must be repeated later. Photos vary with lighting, camera and screen. For a critical finish, get a physical sample or print a small trial before a production run.
